SOUTH WINDSOR — A 29-year-old East Windsor man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing merchandise from a local Target store.
Christopher J. Peters was taken into custody at 12:30 a.m. after South Windsor police responded to reports of a larceny in progress at the Target located at 125 Buckland Hills Drive.
Police determined Peters had stolen $171.46 worth of merchandise before he was apprehended at the scene.
Peters was processed and released on a $2,500 non-surety bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on June 4 at 9 a.m.
In a separate incident, police arrested Michael A. Clancy, 28, of East Hartford, early Wednesday morning following a vehicle pursuit.
An officer observing traffic on Sullivan Avenue near Morgan Farms Drive spotted two vehicles traveling westbound at high speeds.
When the officer attempted to stop the vehicles, they refused to pull over.
Clancy, driving a gray Infiniti, ran a traffic signal at Sullivan Avenue and Route 5 before stopping at the dead end of Main Street.
He was taken into custody without incident.
During an inventory search of Clancy’s vehicle, officers discovered psilocybin-infused chocolates.
Clancy faces charges of reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, violation of traffic control signal, and possession of a controlled substance.
He was processed and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on June 4 at 9 a.m.
