Bath man arrested for meth possession after stolen vehicle investigation

BATH — A local man faces felony drug charges after police discovered methamphetamine during an investigation into a stolen vehicle.

Daniel A. Garcia, 46, of Bath was arrested at 4:08 p.m. on Feb. 8 and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a class A-II Felony.

The investigation began on Feb. 7 when Bath Village Police Department officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Lackawanna Street.

Officers identified a suspect and began searching for the vehicle.

On Feb. 8, police located both the vehicle and Garcia, who had been using it.

During their investigation, officers discovered and seized a plastic bottle containing a liquid substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Garcia was processed and transported to Steuben County Jail following arraignment.

The seized substance was sent to the Western Satellite Crime Laboratory for further testing.

Lab results returned on May 13 confirmed the container held over 4.3 ounces of liquid containing methamphetamine.
