FISHKILL — A Middletown woman faces multiple charges including felony counts after allegedly driving while intoxicated with three young children in her vehicle at a Fishkill gas station.
Troopers from the State Police Wappinger barracks and Town of Fishkill Police Department responded to the Mobil Gas Station at 1314 Route 9D at approximately 2:44 a.m. on May 18 following a third-party report of a possible disturbance.
Upon arrival, troopers interviewed a man and woman who denied any argument had occurred, stating they had just arrived at the gas station.
During the interview, troopers observed signs of intoxication in the vehicle’s operator, Mashiya Townsend, 30, of Middletown.
Townsend failed standardized field sobriety tests administered at the scene.
Further investigation revealed three children, ages 4, 5, and 5, were present in the vehicle during the incident.
Townsend was arrested and transported to SP Wappinger for processing, where she provided a breath sample resulting in a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15%.
The children were released to a sober third party at the scene.
Townsend was charged with three counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child/Passenger Less than 16 (Leandra’s Law), a class E felony, and two unclassified misdemeanors: Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .08% or higher (first offense).
She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Fishkill Court on June 23 at 3 p.m.
