LUNENBURG — A head-on collision between a school bus and a sedan occurred in the 1300 block of Lancaster Avenue Thursday morning, according to the Lunenburg Police Department.

No injuries were reported among the approximately 20 occupants on the school bus or the driver of the sedan.

The 18-year-old driver of the sedan admitted to using a cellphone at the time of the crash, which caused the vehicle to drift into the oncoming lane, police said.

Speed was not considered a factor in the collision.

Police determined the sedan driver’s operation was negligent, resulting in criminal charges.

School personnel, the district’s School Resource Officer and the bus company coordinated a second bus to transport students to school following the incident.

Lunenburg Police Department and Lunenburg Fire Rescue responded to the scene, with assistance from Nashoba Valley Regional Emergency Communications Center, Aldrich Auto Body & Repair for towing services, Lunenburg Public Schools staff and Dee Bus Service.
