BELLINGHAM — Police are investigating reports of two men impersonating National Grid representatives who have attempted to collect fraudulent payments from local businesses.

The Bellingham Police Department said the suspects — described as one Black male and one white male — have targeted at least three businesses in town over the past two days.

One suspect was reportedly wearing a shirt with a “USC” logo, according to police.

Authorities believe the pair has been approaching businesses throughout Bellingham since Tuesday.

Police reminded residents that legitimate utility companies never demand immediate payment in person.

Anyone with information about the suspects is urged to contact the Bellingham Police Department at 508-966-1212.
