FRANKLIN — A Port Jervis man was arrested Monday for allegedly sending threatening text messages to a complainant in the town of Franklin, according to Delaware County Sheriff Craig S. DuMond.
Gary Smolaga, 53, was charged with one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Sheriff’s deputies began investigating on Tuesday, May 6, after receiving a harassment complaint.
Following their investigation, deputies determined Smolaga had sent threatening text messages electronically to the complainant.
Smolaga was issued an appearance ticket on May 19 and is scheduled to return to the Franklin Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
