NORTH ADAMS — Members of the North Adams Detective Unit arrested a Savoy man on drug trafficking charges following a coordinated surveillance operation that culminated in a traffic stop on May 15.
Donald Drawec was taken into custody after detectives seized approximately 30 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine, one bundle of heroin, a digital scale and other distribution materials from his vehicle.
The arrest came after North Adams detectives conducted surveillance as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, working in conjunction with the Northwestern Anti-Crime Task Force and the Berkshire County Drug Task Force.
Investigators followed the suspect’s vehicle outside of Berkshire County, where they observed what appeared to be a narcotics transaction, according to police.
Law enforcement officials continued surveillance as the vehicle returned to Berkshire County, conducting the traffic stop once the vehicle reached Savoy.
Drawec faces charges of trafficking cocaine 18-36 grams under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 94C Section 32 and possession of a Class A substance under Chapter 94C Section 34.
The operation involved coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies, including the North Adams Police Department Detective Unit, the Berkshire County Drug Task Force, and the Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force.
