Cuba man convicted of selling methamphetamine

CUBA — Robert Schappacher, 43, of Friendship, New York, has been convicted of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd and will be sentenced to 3 years in state prison, followed by 1 year of post-release supervision.

The conviction stems from a sale of methamphetamine in the Village of Cuba in January 2024.

Schappacher is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on May 19.

The Allegany County District Attorney’s Office credited the Cuba Police Department for their work in the case.

Schappacher was also initially charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 5th, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th.

Dan McGill represented the defendant, while District Attorney Ian M. Jones prosecuted the case.
