BOSTON — A 34-year-old Boston man wanted for an indecent assault in the North End was arrested Monday afternoon, police said.

Cornelius Williams was taken into custody around 5:06 p.m. in the area of 25 Staniford Street by officers from District A-1, according to the Boston Police Department.

Williams was wanted on a warrant issued by Boston Municipal Court for indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over and assault to rape.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred at approximately 10:53 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, when officers responded to Margaret Street in the North End.

According to police, a victim was entering a residence when she was approached from behind by an unknown black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect allegedly committed an indecent assault and battery before fleeing the building on foot.
