SARANAC — State Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a kidnapping and assault incident that occurred on State Route 3 in March.
The investigation began March 14 when a victim was reportedly held against their will during a physical altercation.
During the incident, the victim was struck multiple times, tied up, and strangled, according to police.
On April 18, the Franklin County Court issued arrest warrants for Tyleek Deramus, 27, of Brooklyn, and Ashley Thompson, 39, of Saranac, following a grand jury indictment.
Deramus faces charges of second-degree kidnapping, second-degree robbery (two counts), second-degree strangulation, second-degree assault (two counts), first-degree unlawful imprisonment, and fourth-degree conspiracy.
Thompson was indicted on charges of second-degree robbery (two counts), second-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, and fifth-degree conspiracy.
Following an extensive investigation involving the New York/New Jersey regional fugitive task force, Deramus was apprehended on May 13 and processed at SP Ray Brook before being remanded to the Franklin County Jail.
Thompson was located and arrested on May 15, also processed at SP Ray Brook and remanded to the Franklin County Jail.
