BOSTON — Officers working at the Haitian Parade recovered a loaded firearm from a suspect’s waistband after observing suspicious behavior, according to Boston Police.
At about 3:38 p.m., on Sunday, May 18, officers assigned to the parade were assisting with traffic and pedestrian flow near 1007 Blue Hill Avenue when they noticed an individual dressed in all black whose waistband appeared weighed down on the right side.
Police said the suspect repeatedly pulled up on the right side of his pants and consistently clutched that area.
Officers approached the individual, advised him of the reason for the stop, and conducted a pat frisk, which resulted in the recovery of a firearm from the suspect’s waistband.
Detectives from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded and identified the weapon as a Springfield Armory XDS 45 ACP with one round in the chamber and four rounds in a magazine capable of holding six rounds.
Antwon Barrett, 20, of Dorchester, was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license (third offense), carrying a firearm without a license (third offense), possession of ammunition without an FID card (subsequent offense), and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.
