Man arrested in Auburn for violating protection order, drug possession

AUBURN — A man was arrested for violating a protection order and drug possession on May 14, according to the Auburn Police Department.

Police observed Jeffrey W. Strachan Sr. walking with a victim in the area of Kwik Fill on State St. around 6:28 p.m.

The victim has an active stay away order of protection issued by Auburn City Court, stemming from a previous domestic incident.

The protection order prohibits Strachan from being with or contacting the victim in any way.

Strachan was arrested without incident for violating the protection order.

During the search incident to arrest, police found a quantity of crack cocaine on Strachan’s person.

Authorities noted that Strachan had a previous conviction of a specified family offense within the preceding five years, which added a felony charge to this incident.

Strachan was charged with one count of Aggravated Family Offense (Felony), one count of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree (Misdemeanor), and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Misdemeanor).

After processing, Strachan was transported to the Cayuga County Jail where he was held pending arraignment.
