DUNBARTON — A Dunbarton man with a prior sexual assault conviction was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for possession of child sexual abuse material, officials announced Friday.
Scott Currier, 48, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Samantha Elliott to 144 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.
Currier was also ordered to pay $38,000 in restitution to victims.
The defendant pleaded guilty in May to one count of possession of child sexual abuse material.
“The defendant is a convicted sex offender who repeatedly exploited children,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack.
Authorities identified Currier through a CyberTip reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that traced internet activity to his residence.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Currier’s home, seizing a computer containing over 700 files of suspected child sexual abuse material.
Currier faced enhanced penalties due to a prior state conviction for aggravated felonious sexual assault.
Homeland Security Investigations led the investigation with assistance from the Dunbarton Police Department and the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
