CALAIS — A Graniteville man faces charges of driving under the influence after his pickup truck struck a tree Sunday evening.
Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Sand Hill Road near Vermont Route 14 at approximately 8:10 p.m. on May 18.
Jonathan Herring, 20, was driving a 2012 GMC Sierra when the vehicle left the roadway at a high rate of speed and collided with a tree, according to police.
Herring, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center for treatment.
Investigating officers determined Herring was impaired and took him into custody on suspicion of DUI.
The pickup truck sustained significant front-end damage in the collision.
Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, and weather was clear.
Herring was issued a citation to appear in Washington Superior Court – Criminal Division to face charges.
