Cadet at sheriff’s office faces attempted murder charge

BOURNE — A cadet at the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office has been placed on unpaid administrative leave following an off-duty incident in Harwich, officials announced Monday.

Tatiana Jacobs, a provisional employee currently enrolled in the Recruit Training Academy, is facing charges of armed assault to murder.

The incident occurred Sunday, May 18, in Harwich, according to a statement released by the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Donna D. Buckley’s office provided no additional details about the nature of the incident, citing the ongoing criminal investigation.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that Jacobs was a provisional employee at the time of the incident.

Officials declined to comment further on the case as the investigation continues.
