AUBURN — Members of the Auburn Police Department arrested a man for violating an order of protection and displaying a knife at a residence on Warren Ave. Sunday evening.
Police responded to a call at approximately 6:05 p.m. on May 18 regarding a protection order violation.
According to authorities, Islam S. Alim went to the victim’s residence unannounced and confronted her about another individual who was present.
Alim allegedly displayed a knife during the confrontation, causing the victim to fear for her safety.
Police reported that the victim’s five-year-old child was standing nearby when the knife was displayed.
Alim left the scene before police arrived but was later located at his residence and taken into custody without incident.
He faces multiple charges including first-degree criminal contempt, a felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor; and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Following processing, Alim was transported to the Cayuga County Jail where he is being held pending arraignment.
