BOSTON — Boston police recovered four firearms and arrested three individuals on multiple firearm-related offenses in Mattapan on Sunday, May 18.

At about 5:00 p.m., officers assigned to District B-3 were conducting a directed patrol of Harambee Park when they noticed two individuals adjusting objects in their mid-sections.

As the group began to leave the park, the two individuals repeatedly looked over their shoulders at officers before separating from the group and fleeing.

Officers later recovered two firearms during an area canvass: a Glock 9mm with nine rounds and a Glock 45 with fifteen rounds and an obliterated serial number.

At approximately 6:08 p.m., officers observed about one hundred people running from the playground area, with reports that someone had fired a gun.

Police spotted a male walking with a hunched posture and eventually stopped him near 911 Blue Hill Avenue.

Officers recovered a Taurus GX4 with one round in the chamber and nine in the magazine from the suspect’s waistband.

A 16-year-old juvenile male was arrested and faces multiple charges including possession of a firearm without a license and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after allegedly kicking an officer during transport.

At about 7:09 p.m., officers observed two groups arguing outside Harambee Park.

After following two individuals to the rear of Harvard Street addresses, officers apprehended one suspect on Vesta Road who attempted to flee.

A pat frisk revealed a Sig Sauer firearm with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine inside the suspect’s backpack.

A 17-year-old juvenile male was arrested on multiple firearm charges, while Olimpio Pires-Braun, 25, of Dorchester, was arrested for trespassing.

Both juveniles are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
