THOMASTON — Three people were injured and one person died following two separate motorcycle crashes on Waterbury Road, according to local authorities.
On May 17 at approximately 5:23 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the area of 1085 Waterbury Road for a reported collision between a motorcycle and an SUV.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a second accident had occurred involving another motorcycle as a result of the first crash.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 63-year-old male driving an SUV was traveling south on Waterbury Road when it collided with a northbound motorcycle operated by a 55-year-old male.
The impact left the damaged SUV in the northbound lane at a sharp corner in the roadway, causing a second unrelated motorcycle to strike the SUV.
The second motorcycle was operated by a 29-year-old male with a 27-year-old female passenger.
All three operators and the passenger were transported to the hospital for evaluation of their injuries.
The 55-year-old operator of the first motorcycle was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Thomaston Police Department is investigating the accidents with assistance from the Connecticut State Police CARS Unit.
