FALL RIVER — Police arrested a 16-year-old suspect following a shooting that left a female victim wounded near the intersection of South Main Street and Slade Street earlier today.

Patrol officers responded to reports of a female suffering from a gunshot wound at the location, but the shooter had already fled the scene.

Officers quickly developed a description and potential identity of the suspect, prompting detectives familiar with the individual to begin searching known locations.

The juvenile suspect was located and arrested shortly afterward, though no firearm was initially found on the suspect or at the scene.

Using footage from various personal surveillance cameras in the area, officers tracked the suspect’s movements and discovered a discarded bag containing a loaded Glock 31 Gen 4 handgun.

According to police, the 16-year-old is also a person of interest in multiple other shootings within the city.

The female victim was transported to a local trauma center where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
