Montpelier man arrested for trespass, violating abuse prevention order

MONTPELIER — A 27-year-old man was arrested after allegedly entering a residence he was court-ordered to avoid and contacting a protected individual, police said.

Jesse Reeder was taken into custody on May 14 after officers responded to a report of a trespasser at an Elm Street apartment around 7:13 p.m.

According to the Montpelier Police Department, Reeder was prohibited from being within 300 feet of the residence.

Officers located Reeder walking on Elm Street a short distance from the apartment.

During their investigation, police discovered Reeder had also engaged in electronic communications with an individual he was court-ordered not to contact.

Reeder was charged with violation of an abuse prevention order and unlawful trespass into an occupied dwelling.

Barre Probation and Parole took custody of Reeder and executed an emergency arrest for probation violations.

He was held at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility pending arraignment scheduled for May 15 at 12:30 p.m. in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division.
