CAMBRIDGE — Cambridge police arrested an Arlington man Tuesday night after he allegedly stole a pickup truck towing competitive rowing boats and caused several hit-and-run crashes across West Cambridge.
The Cambridge Police Department received multiple reports of the truck operating erratically throughout the area.
Officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen to Arlington Police before the incidents occurred.
The suspect allegedly caused several hit-and-run crashes at multiple locations, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries and significant property damage.
Cambridge and Belmont police officers located the truck near the Cambridge-Belmont line and successfully stopped the vehicle.
Officers removed the driver from the vehicle and placed him under arrest.
During the response, a Cambridge Police Department cruiser was involved in a separate crash.
The officer was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where they were treated and later released.
The investigation remains ongoing and involves multiple scenes and coordination with several partner agencies.
