Barnstead driver arrested after vehicle plunges into Hudson pond

HUDSON — A 20-year-old Barnstead man was arrested on an aggravated DWI charge after his vehicle crashed into a pond early Sunday morning, according to Hudson police.

Officers responded to the area of 25 Lawrence Rd. at approximately 2:28 a.m. for a report of a single motor vehicle accident.

Investigators determined that a blue Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Alexander Doyle was traveling south on Robinson Rd. when it failed to stop at the intersection with Lawrence Rd.

The vehicle continued onto a private driveway, struck a large deck connected to the residence and then reversed.

While backing up, the vehicle drove over a retaining wall and plunged directly into a large pond located next to the residence.

Doyle was uninjured in the crash.

Police developed information at the scene that Doyle was operating the vehicle while under the influence at the time of the accident.

Doyle was arrested and charged with Aggravated DWI.

He was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled for arraignment at the 9th Circuit District Court in Nashua on May 29.
