FALL RIVER — Police responded to the area of South Main Street and Slade Street following reports of a female suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip.
The victim was transported to a local trauma center for treatment.
A male person of interest is in custody, according to Fall River Police Department officials.
Authorities said there does not appear to be any ongoing threat to the public.
Police indicated they will provide updates as more information becomes available.
