Wrong-way driver stopped on I-91 in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY — Vermont State Police stopped a wrong-way driver attempting to merge onto Interstate 91 southbound at Exit 19 while traveling northbound Thursday at approximately 11:08 p.m.

The driver, identified as Beverly Lamont, 65, of St. Johnsbury, was initially reported traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 93 toward St. Johnsbury.

Troopers located and stopped Lamont’s vehicle as she was attempting to merge the wrong way onto I-91.

Lamont was cited for gross negligent operation and is scheduled to appear in Caledonia Superior Court.
