PORT BYRON — A Throop man turned himself in to authorities after allegedly leaving a threatening voicemail for a domestic violence victim in Port Byron.
Daniel E. Usher, 42, was arrested May 13 and charged with aggravated harassment in the second degree, a misdemeanor, and aggravated family offense, a felony, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Deputies responded to a Port Byron address at approximately 10:34 a.m. on May 13 after receiving a report of a domestic violence incident.
The victim told deputies that Usher had left a threatening voicemail in which he threatened to harm someone with a firearm.
Following the investigation, Usher surrendered himself at the Sheriff’s Office without incident.
The felony charge was applied due to Usher’s previous criminal convictions related to domestic violence, Sheriff Schenck said.
After being processed at centralized arraignment, Usher was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Port Byron Court at a later date.
