METHUEN — A routine patrol turned into a foot chase and firearm seizure in the early morning hours of May 10, police officials reported.

A Methuen police officer conducting registration checks spotted a suspicious individual wearing a ski mask.

When the officer shined a spotlight toward the person, the suspect fled on foot.

The officer pursued the suspect and found him hiding behind a pickup truck and nearby bushes.

The suspect, identified as a 24-year-old Lawrence man, was taken into custody without incident.

Officers later recovered a loaded Glock handgun from the bed of the truck where the suspect had been hiding.

The suspect was arrested and held on $5,000 cash bail.

He faces charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and trespassing.
