Man arrested after shots fired at Tonawanda mini-mart

TONAWANDA — A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday after allegedly firing shots at another man during a dispute at a local convenience store, police said.

The incident occurred around 9:52 a.m. at the Parkside Mini-Mart at 1150 Sheridan Drive.

According to Town of Tonawanda Police, Dameek D. Dennis produced a handgun during an altercation with a male acquaintance and fired two shots at the individual who was seated in a car at a red light on Sheridan Parkside Drive.

No injuries were reported in the shooting.

Dennis, a Town of Tonawanda resident, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police described the incident as “targeted” between two individuals who knew each other.

Dennis faces a class D felony for the reckless endangerment charge and a class C felony for the weapons charge.

He is scheduled to be arraigned before Judge Lennon in Town of Tonawanda Court on Friday.
