OSSIPEE — One person has died following a collision between a dump truck and a small crossover SUV on Route 28 in Ossipee Friday morning.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:47 a.m. on May 16, prompting response from multiple State Police units including Troop G, Troop E, and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit.
Preliminary investigation indicates the dump truck struck the SUV, causing the truck to overturn and spill its contents across the roadway.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
Route 28 remains closed in the vicinity of the crash, with traffic being diverted at the intersection of Routes 28 and 171 to a detour over Route 171 to Pork Hill Road, which reconnects with Route 28 in North Wolfeboro.
Officials expect traffic disruptions to continue for several hours while the investigation proceeds.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Ossipee Police Department, Ossipee Corner Fire and Rescue, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and Wolfeboro Police Department.
