Somerville sees string of break-ins, robbery in early May

SOMERVILLE — Somerville Police Department responded to multiple residential break-ins and a robbery during the second week of May, according to police reports.

On May 12 at 4:17 p.m., officers responded to Glen Street for an unarmed robbery near the Capuano School where a victim reported two males approached him, engaged in conversation, then one grabbed his necklace before both fled the area.

The same day saw three separate residential break-ins reported within hours of each other.

At 12:19 p.m., a resident on Alpine Street reported a bicycle stolen from his basement.

Later at 5:01 p.m., police responded to Garden Court where a victim found her apartment door pried open, her living room in disarray, and multiple pieces of jewelry and gift cards missing.

Just 29 minutes later at 5:30 p.m., officers returned to Garden Court for another break-in where jewelry and cash were reported stolen.

On May 9 at 2:03 p.m., a Franklin Street resident reported a bicycle stolen from inside his shed.

Earlier in the week on May 8 at 9:36 p.m., police responded to North Street where a resident reported teenagers had broken into a basement to smoke marijuana, though nothing was reported stolen.

Police also made an arrest on May 7 at 6:33 p.m. near Cross Street and Chester Street after a male suspect allegedly kicked cyclists, punched an individual, and made death threats.

Additional incidents during this period included two package thefts, one bike theft, two vandalisms, one motor vehicle theft, and two motor vehicle vandalisms.
