PORTLAND — The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Portland Police Department arrested a 26-year-old Portland man on aggravated drug trafficking charges following a vehicle stop that led to the seizure of significant amounts of illegal drugs and firearms.
Abdirahmon A. Adbullahi was arrested Wednesday, May 14, at approximately 5 p.m. when agents from the MDEA Cumberland District Task Force and officers from Portland’s Crime Reduction Unit stopped his Ford Escort on Ocean Avenue.
Authorities had been investigating Adbullahi for illegal drug trafficking throughout the Greater Portland area.
During the stop, officers found approximately 72 grams of fentanyl and 63 grams of cocaine base packaged for resale, leading to Adbullahi’s arrest without incident.
Adbullahi was transported to Cumberland County Jail with bail set at $50,000 cash.
Following the arrest, agents obtained a search warrant for Adbullahi’s residence at 48 Elmwood Street in Portland.
The search yielded nearly one pound (400 grams) of fentanyl, more than a quarter pound (187 grams) of cocaine and cocaine base, three firearms, $3,000 in suspected drug proceeds, and other items associated with drug processing and distribution.
Adbullahi faces charges of Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl & Cocaine), Class A, and Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl & Cocaine), Class B.
