SENNETT — A 31-year-old Auburn man has been arrested on charges stemming from a police chase that occurred in March, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Terrance D. Dexter was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, along with multiple traffic violations including reckless driving.

The charges stem from an incident on March 27, when deputies responded to reports of a physical domestic dispute in Auburn at approximately 4:30 a.m.

Deputies located Dexter’s vehicle on Turnpike Road traveling eastbound past North Street Road in the Town of Sennett.

When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Dexter allegedly continued driving in an attempt to escape, traveling eastbound on Grant Avenue Road and into Onondaga County.

Multiple agencies from Onondaga County assisted by blocking intersections and deploying Stop Sticks, but attempts to stop Dexter’s vehicle were unsuccessful.

The pursuit was terminated as Dexter entered Syracuse city limits due to safety concerns.

Dexter was arrested on May 10 at 12:07 a.m. on an arrest warrant.

He was processed and brought to Cayuga County Jail for Centralized Arraignment Part Court at 7 a.m., where he was released on his own recognizance.

Dexter is scheduled to appear in Sennett Town Court on May 14 at 6 p.m.
