ROCKPORT — A 35-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after a fire destroyed her home and investigators discovered evidence of multiple fires on the property.
Andrea Annis faces several counts of arson and other charges following the blaze that consumed her single-family residence at 327 West Street, according to the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Rockport Police and Fire Departments responded to the property shortly after the fire was reported around 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13.
First responders found evidence of several additional fires on the property that were no longer actively burning.
Annis, the sole occupant of the home, escaped without injury.
Investigators from the Office of State Fire Marshal arrested Annis at the scene with assistance from the Rockport Police Department.
In addition to arson charges, Annis faces counts of refusing to submit to arrest or detention, burning prohibited materials, and burning without a permit.
Following her arrest, Annis was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Officials said she will be taken to the Knox County Jail upon discharge from the hospital.
The investigation remains ongoing.
