CANANDAIGUA — A police investigation at Finger Lakes Community College prompted officials to close the campus to the public Wednesday, though authorities later declared the area safe.
All students and faculty remained safe throughout the incident, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement conducted a thorough investigation of the campus grounds before clearing the facility to reopen.
“Campus has been cleared and deemed safe to return to,” college officials announced in an update at 4:30 p.m.
Operations at the college will resume as normal Thursday, according to the announcement.
During the closure, law enforcement and college personnel worked together to secure the area.
Authorities have not released details about what prompted the investigation.
