GLENVILLE — A Johnstown man already in custody for multiple larcenies now faces additional burglary charges after allegedly stealing from a Walmart where he had been previously banned.
Ricky A. Hemstreet II, 26, was charged on May 6 with two counts of burglary in the third degree, a class D felony, according to State Police.
Investigators determined that Hemstreet entered the Glenville Walmart on March 26 and March 27, allegedly stealing merchandise on both occasions.
Authorities say Hemstreet was trespassing during these incidents, having been banned from all Walmart properties in December 2024 due to similar thefts.
Hemstreet was transported from the Fulton County Correctional Facility, where he was being held on previous charges, to State Police barracks in Fonda for processing.
After arraignment at Glenville Town Court, he was returned to the Fulton County Correctional Facility.
The new charges follow Hemstreet’s April 4 arrest on multiple counts including three counts of grand larceny in the third degree, criminal mischief in the second and third degree, petit larceny, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Those earlier charges stemmed from investigations into thefts of wire and metal materials from properties in Amsterdam, Cobleskill, Florida, and Fonda between February and April.
During two of those incidents, Hemstreet allegedly caused extensive damage by stealing installed utility wires, which he then reportedly sold to a local scrap yard.
