BOSTON — A traffic stop led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Dorchester man on firearm charges Monday night, according to Boston police.

Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Nikolas Howard around 9:15 p.m. after officers observed a vehicle speeding through a red light at Seaver Street and Blue Hill Avenue.

Officers conducted a traffic stop, and during their investigation, noticed a fanny pack on the passenger seat.

When officers attempted to search the bag, Howard reportedly resisted, leading to a struggle.

Police removed Howard from the vehicle and discovered a loaded “ghost gun” with a laser sight inside the fanny pack.

The firearm contained ten rounds in the magazine, according to detectives who processed the evidence.

Howard faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a loaded firearm.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
