2 pedestrians struck by vehicle in Massachusetts parking lot

ORLEANS — Two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in the Shaw’s supermarket parking lot on Tuesday, according to Orleans Police.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:37 p.m. when Orleans Police and Fire were dispatched to 9 West Road.

Upon arrival, first responders found a female on the ground suffering from serious injuries and a second victim with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle was reversing from a parking space when it accelerated into several parked vehicles, striking one pedestrian in the process.

The second victim, identified as a 77-year-old female who was the sole operator of the vehicle, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by members of the Orleans Fire Department.

Her condition is unknown at this time.

The collision is under investigation by members of the Orleans Police Department with assistance from the Cape Cod Regional Crash Reconstruction Team.
