RIDGE — A 37-year-old Ridge man was arrested on multiple felony charges related to online sexual exploitation of minors, authorities announced.

Ryan J. McCaffery was charged with three counts of Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors 1st degree, three counts of Attempted Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance who is under 17 years old, three counts of Acting in a Manner Injurious to a Child under 17, Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child Under 17, and Possession of Sexual Performance by a Child.

The arrest on May 12 followed an extensive investigation by the New York State Police and Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

On January 17, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations in Riverside, with assistance from the Troop L Computer Crime Unit and Troopers, executed a search warrant at McCaffery’s residence at 17 Conservation Circus in Ridge after receiving an Internet Crime Against Children cyber tip.

Several electronic devices were seized during the search, and McCaffery was interviewed by NYSP investigators and the Bergen County New Jersey Prosecutors Office.

The joint interview led to McCaffery being arrested and charged on February 14 in Bergen County with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of third-degree child endangerment, and two counts of fourth-degree lewdness related to online chat conversations with juvenile victims under age 13 in 2022.

Further investigation revealed McCaffery allegedly used the Snapchat username “C_chambers77” to request nude photos and engage in sexual acts while video chatting with victims under age 14 during December 2024.

McCaffery surrendered himself to the New York State Police in Riverside and was transported to Suffolk County First District Court for arraignment.

Authorities are asking any parent or guardian who believes their child received inappropriate communications from the Snapchat username “C_chambers77” to contact the New York State Police at 631-756-3300.

The investigation is ongoing.
