NORWALK — A 36-year-old Norwalk man was arrested Saturday on charges of sexually assaulting a minor family member, police said.

Salvador Valdovinos-Contreras, of 41 Ohio Ave., was taken into custody following a felony motor vehicle stop on May 10.

The arrest stems from a Feb. 9 complaint alleging that Valdovinos-Contreras inappropriately touched a close family member who is a minor.

Police said the incident occurred while the victim was asleep in a car at a gas station in South Norwalk.

According to authorities, another minor family member was also asleep in the vehicle at the time of the alleged assault.

One of the minors reportedly woke up to find Valdovinos-Contreras touching them inappropriately.

Valdovinos-Contreras was charged with sexual assault in the 4th degree and risk of injury to a minor.

He is being held on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 12.
