GLENBURN — A 24-year-old man was arrested after being found sleeping inside a residential garage and leading deputies on a chase through the woods.
On March 12 at approximately 8 a.m., the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office received a call about an unknown man inside a garage in Glenburn.
Officials believed the man may have been involved in a police incident the night before.
The man fled into the woods behind the residence before deputies arrived.
Deputies established a perimeter to contain the situation.
The suspect was spotted on a dead-end road but fled into the woods again.
Shortly after, deputies saw him entering another residential garage.
With assistance from a fire marshal investigator in the area, deputies apprehended the man after a brief struggle.
The suspect was identified as Shawn Stewart, 24, of Parkman.
Stewart was charged with criminal trespass, violations of conditions of release, refusing to submit to arrest/detention, and probation violation.
Stewart remains in the Penobscot County Jail.
