Rutland man faces second DUI charge after traffic stop

RUTLAND — A Rutland man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence for the second time following a traffic stop Sunday morning.

Vermont State Police troopers conducted the stop at approximately 11:33 a.m. on May 11 at the intersection of US7 and I-4 in Rutland Town after observing a motor vehicle violation.

The operator was identified as Raymond S. Barker, 49, of Rutland.

While speaking with Barker, troopers detected indicators of impairment and conducted roadside sobriety exercises.

Barker was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to the Vermont State Police – Rutland Barracks for processing.

He was released with a citation to appear in Rutland court on May 27 at 12:30 p.m.
