Providence man arrested on multiple warrants after traffic stop

SCITUATE — A Providence man was arrested Tuesday at 5:16 p.m. on multiple outstanding warrants following a traffic stop on Valley Street in Providence.

Luis Santiago Martinez, 39, of 320 Valley Street Apartment 2, was taken into custody by Rhode Island State Police troopers from the Scituate Barracks.

Martinez was wanted on two Sixth Division District Court bench warrants for failure to appear for technical violation hearings.

The first warrant stemmed from original charges of domestic violence-vandalism, simple assault and/or battery, and criminal violation of no contact order.

The second warrant was related to original charges of domestic violence-family court violation protective order and disorderly conduct.

Martinez also faced a Providence Superior Court bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on charges including domestic violence-unlawful breaking/entering dwelling house, criminal violation of no contact order, vandalism, and resisting arrest.

All original charges originated from the Providence Police Department.

After processing at the State Police Scituate Barracks, Martinez was transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake Center.
