NH driver arrested for DUI after police clock vehicle at 118 mph

CAMPTON — A Salem man faces charges after police say he was driving while intoxicated at speeds reaching 118 mph on Interstate 93.

On May 11 at approximately 5:29 p.m., a Campton Police officer observed a 2019 Toyota Camry traveling south on Interstate 93 while passing several vehicles at high speed.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Elie G. Elkhoury of Salem.

During the roadside investigation, the officer observed signs of impairment and conducted field sobriety tests.

Elkhoury was subsequently arrested and charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, a class A misdemeanor.

Following the arrest, Elkhoury was released to a sober individual on personal recognizance bail with a court date of May 19 in the 2nd Circuit Plymouth District Court.

The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
