Newfane man arrested for driving 95 mph on Route 30

NEWFANE — A Townshend man was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly driving nearly twice the speed limit on VT Route 30.

John R. Faulkner, 24, was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and excessive speed following the incident that occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m. near Browns Road.

According to the Windham County Sheriff’s Office, Faulkner was observed passing other northbound vehicles while traveling 95 mph in a posted 50 mph zone.

Sgt. Norton issued Faulkner a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division on June 17.

Faulkner was also issued a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.

He was released from the scene following the arrest.
