FALL RIVER — A 22-year-old man who arrived at Charlton Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds Friday is now facing multiple charges including fentanyl trafficking and violation of an abuse prevention order, police said.
Fall River Police Department CAST Detectives responded to the hospital on May 9 after receiving reports of a shooting near the 200 block of Orange Street.
The victim, identified as Jesus Santana, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, hospital staff provided police with items removed from Santana’s person, including approximately 10.6 grams of suspected fentanyl and a wallet containing a large sum of cash.
Detectives determined that Santana had been at a residence on Pine Street before the shooting, violating an active abuse prevention order.
After being medically cleared, Santana was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl (10+ grams) and two counts of violating an abuse prevention order.
Police said the investigation into the shooting remains active.
