CLARENCE — Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports the arrest of Julianne Wells, 40 of Cheektowaga, following an incident that occurred at a residence on Shimerville Road, Town of Clarence.

On May 10, Wells arrived at her parents home on Shimerville Road in an apparent agitated state, looking for her children.

Wells, armed with a shotgun, fired two rounds through a rear sliding glass doorway, causing extensive damage to the residence.

Wells’ parents were in an upstairs bedroom sleeping at the time of the incident.

As Deputies and Troopers arrived on scene, they encountered Wells outside the rear of the residence, utilizing the stock of the shotgun to damage a separate patio window.

Patrol gave multiple commands to Wells to drop the shotgun, without success.

As Wells turned her back to officers to continue striking the patio window, she was taken to the ground, disarmed and placed into custody without further incident.

After securing the scene, an investigation revealed that Wells had left her children at her residence in Cheektowaga and went to her parents’ home in Clarence.

The Town of Cheektowaga Police Department conducted a welfare check at Julianne’s residence and found the children sleeping and in good health.

A 2018 Chevy Tahoe was located parked in the backyard of the Clarence residence, behind a line of trees.

Located in plain view were two additional, loaded firearms (Ruger Mark III 22 caliber and a long rifle).

Julliane’s NYS Pistol Permit was suspended in 2016.

Wells was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, a Class D Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E Felony.

Wells was transported to the Erie County Medical Center for evaluation.

Wells remains in custody at ECMC as of Monday.
