FLOYD — A man drowned in a canal along State Route 49 in the Town of Floyd, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.
Deputies were dispatched to the area after receiving reports of a drowning in the canal.
The Oneida County Criminal Investigation Unit and Forensic ID Unit responded to the scene due to the nature of the incident.
Members of the Oneida County Dive team successfully recovered the male from the canal.
The investigation is pending identification of the male, and no further information is available at this time.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by members of the New York State Police, Floyd Fire Department, and the Medical Examiner’s office.
