Man faces DUI, child cruelty charges after Bristol crash

BRISTOL — A Starksboro man faces charges of driving under the influence and cruelty to a child after a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning.

Vermont State Police responded to the intersection of Lovers Lane and Cold Spring Road in Bristol at approximately 1:17 a.m. on May 10 following reports of a crash.

Troopers detected signs of impairment while speaking with Ryan Hallett, 28, of Starksboro, according to police.

Further investigation revealed Hallett had been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence with an infant in the vehicle, police said.

Hallett was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police New Haven Barracks for processing.

He was issued a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court – Criminal Division on May 26 at 12:30 p.m.

Additional charges are pending, according to authorities.
