BOSTON — A 27-year-old Roxbury man faces multiple drug charges after police discovered several narcotics during a traffic stop Friday afternoon.
Jose Irizarry-Estepan was arrested at approximately 3:37 p.m. on May 9 following surveillance by officers from the District B-2 Drug Control Unit who were executing a search warrant.
Officers observed Irizarry-Estepan entering the rear driver-side door of a vehicle on Tremont Street near West Concord Street before the vehicle headed toward Massachusetts Avenue.
Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Columbus Avenue and Heath Street after noting the vehicle had a defective brake light and excessively tinted windows.
Upon recognizing Irizarry-Estepan as the subject of their search warrant, officers conducted a search that yielded multiple narcotics, including suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, powdered cocaine and marijuana.
The search revealed eight smaller bags of a tan powdery substance believed to be fentanyl, six plastic bags containing a white, rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine, and two plastic bags containing a white powdery substance believed to be powdered cocaine.
Officers also recovered an aluminum foil zip-lock bag containing suspected crack cocaine and loose marijuana from Irizarry-Estepan, along with an aluminum tray containing loose marijuana from the vehicle’s center console.
A second passenger was found with a prescription bottle containing a plastic bag of crushed blue powder and seven brown capsule pills later identified as Hydromorphone.
Irizarry-Estepan is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges including possession with intent to distribute Class A and Class B substances.
The second passenger will be summonsed to appear in Roxbury District Court on a charge of possession of a Class A substance, while the vehicle operator received citations for defective equipment, excessive window tint and open container of marijuana.
