Troy, NY police make swift arrest in shot fired incident

TROY — Troy police detectives arrested a 45-year-old man Thursday evening after responding to reports of a shot fired in the Winnie Avenue area earlier that day.

Police patrols initially responded around 3:30 p.m. Thursday to reports of gunfire, but found no victims or suspects at the scene.

Detectives later identified a possible suspect and vehicle, locating the suspect in South Troy around 8 p.m.

Tarence Davis, 45, of Troy, was taken into custody with the assistance of patrol officers.

Davis was found in possession of a loaded rifle and a loaded handgun, according to police.

No individuals were believed to have been injured in the incident, and police have not identified a motive.

Davis faces charges of first-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The suspect was processed and arraigned in Troy City Court Friday.
