TROY, NY — A Troy man was arrested early Friday after authorities discovered nearly a kilogram of heroin laced with fentanyl during a search of his residence.
Asjmere J. Powell, 37, was taken into custody at 679 4th Avenue when members of the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit and investigators executed a search warrant at approximately 2 a.m. on May 9.
Authorities seized approximately 979.4 grams of heroin/fentanyl and 155.9 grams of cocaine, both individually packaged for sale.
Law enforcement also recovered drug paraphernalia, a loaded Kel-Tec 40mm handgun, and $4,800 in U.S. currency during the raid.
Powell was arraigned in Troy City Court by Judge Christopher T. Maier and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
He faces multiple felony charges including two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, and several weapons charges.
